2012 Tournament Format

The tournament is a two-day individual stroke play event. Foursomes may register as a group, or players may register individually and make foursome pairing requests. Players entering with no pairings request will be assigned to foursomes by the golf committee. Foursomes may be different each day.

The Golf Courses:

During this year's golf tournament you will have the pleasure of playing both of these magnificent golf courses:

Hubbard Memorial Golf Course is located on the east side of the Hill AFB runway. It is a Championship golf course of 6972 yards that is enjoyed by golfers of all skills. The velvety fairways of Kentucky Blue Grass and the large true rolling greens of bent grass will inspire all to play at their best. The periodic overhead flight of the F-16 Fighting Falcons will make you appreciate our nation’s defenders and their many sacrifices. At the conclusion of your play you will most likely tell yourself that you truly enjoyed golfing in one of Utah’s premier golf courses; especially if you come close to the course record of 61.

Wolf Creek Golf Course is located in Eden, Utah. Golf in paradise on Wolf Creek Utah’s championship links. Keeping your eye on the ball will be a real challenge at Wolf Creek. Famed for its awe-inspiring sightlines and challenging greens. The Wolf Creek Utah Golf Course meanders across foothills and through oak groves at the head of spectacular Ogden Valley – a true test of your ability to keep your head in the game. Its 7,000 + newly enhanced yards are a challenge to skilled players, while remaining relatively forgiving to novices. As the only Audubon Society-certified golf course in Utah, it’s designed to honor alpine flora and northern Utah fauna, while rewarding golfers with playable links that stay true to the grand traditions of the game.

Rules of Play

Rule #1:
Have Fun!!!

Method of Play:
Individual Stroke Play.

Tees:
Play will be from the white tees for men and the red tees for ladies.

USGA Rules:
USGA rules apply except as modified below and by local rules attached to score cards. Both courses require spikeless golf shoes. Play your ball as it lies; no conceded putts (unless: reference “On Speeding Up Play” 10-stroke maximum)

Mulligan Package:
Mulligan packages will be on sale at the registration breakfast. The cost for these packages is $40.00 which will pay for all Mulligans (2 per day), Prize holes and Putting Green competition. During play and upon deciding to use a Mulligan, please declare your intention to your fellow competitors prior to hitting the shot. A Mulligan may be used only to replay your last stroke. The score recorded on your scorecard should be the final score for that hole. The use of Mulligans for tee shots for the special prize holes identified in the brochure makes the player ineligible for that designated prize.

Scorecards:
One person will be designated official scorer for each foursome. This person will be identified on the card with an asterisk by his or her name. Each day, as soon as you have completed your round, verify and sign your score card and turn it in to a member of the scoring team at the course played. The official scores are needed as early as possible so the scoring team can review them and have the scores posted for your viewing during the Mid-Course Correction Party on Thursday, and, of course, again on Friday for a determination of the winners. NOTE: Please use a secondary scorecard to track any side wagers.

Provisional Balls:
After hitting an errant shot, if you feel it may be out of bounds or lost, and you don’t use a Mulligan, please hit a provisional ball after declaring your intent to do so. This will greatly speed up play.

Rulings:
USGA rules apply to all play except as modified herein. Should any question arise about a ruling, play the original ball as it lies and play a provisional ball as well, record both scores for the hole affected and a ruling will be rendered by the rules committee after the round is completed. For long drive contest, ball must be in your own fairway in order to be eligible for this competition.

On Speeding Up Play:
Keep play moving by making every effort to keep up with the group ahead of you. Remember, ten (10) strokes are the maximum allowed on any one hole. If you have already hit the ball nine (9) times and aren’t holed out, pick up, score ten (10) and go on to the next hole. Thank you!

Peoria Flight:
Handicaps for Peoria Flight participants will be calculated at the conclusion of each round. It is important that all cards be turned in promptly to facilitate the calculation of handicaps and posting of scores.

Handicap Flight:
Maximum handicap allowed will be 36 for men and 40 for the ladies. As in past years, we will use the USGA index listed for you at your club or home course, and factor a handicap based on the average slope rating of the two courses being played here. Should we be unable to verify your USGA, or USGA sanctioned handicap index, you will be asked to play in the Peoria flight.

Tie Breakers:
The individual event ties will be broken by comparing the scores using scorecards at Hubbard starting on #1. In the case of individual handicapped competition, the first person to win a hole based on NET SCORE for that hole will be declared winner. In the event of a tie for the low gross prize, the same procedure will apply except the lowest GROSS score by hole will determine the winner.

Note:Due to insurance limitations, golf pros are not eligible for hole-in-one contests.
